Old Briones Road Loop
The bike ride is a 14.12 mile loop from my house up Old Briones road to Table Top and then back around Spengler Road to home. It is the one route where I can actually bike my butt all the way to the top without having to get off and walk. This particular route follows Reliez Valley Road up old Briones Rd to the gate. From there a short .64 miles you will come to a second gate and then just around the corner you will come to the Maricich Lagoons. Follow the single track trails along the lagoons and you will come to a small bench by the woods where the trail continues on into the woods. You make your way along the single track trail through the woods. After less than half a mile you will go through a green grate and about .7 miles you will come to a cross trail also a single track. If you go right up the hill you will climb almost straight up to Briones Peak. If you go left the trail winds down to either Diablo View or the water tank by Spengler Trail. Continue straight and less than .35 you will exit on Table Top trail (really a fire road). From here we turned right up the road to Table Top. And instead of bearing right on Briones Crest Trail go left along Table Top trail. You will wind along the trail for about 3/4 of a mile when Table Top continues off to the right through a gate, bear left on Spengler. Another 1/4 mile and Spengler cuts back hard to the left, while the road continues sloping down the trail. There is no sign, if your barreling along your bike, which you'll more than likely be doing, you'll miss the turn and on a dead end road which isn't on Brione's maps. Hank I ended up taking this by accident last week. Spengler loops back around where it turns right at Table Top trail and then down to gully trail to Gloria Terrace. By the time I made it this far though it was very dark, so I cut off to Toyon road to Reliez Valley road and home.
