Napa 2002

Napa Dec 2002

December 21st the last Saturday before Christmas we drove up to Napa Valley to go shopping for stocking stuffers. Along the way we stopped at one of my favorite restaurants The Rutherford Grill, which is a casual place with great food, especially their grilled artichokes and their prime rib french dip sandwich.

We stopped off at St. Helena Olive Oil Company, a great palce to get virgin olive oil, awesome queen Sicilian olives and amazing stone ground mustard.

We then went shopping along the main street of St. Helena and then drove up over Petrified Forest Rd. to Sonoma for more shopping. Along the way we stopped at the Petrified Forest.

There was a great oak tree at the beginning of the trail.

The examples of petrified wood were pretty amazing, but they had fairly recently fenced all the trees off with 5 foot high wire, which really spoiled the view.

It was a nice walk through the woods though.

4 days till Christmas.
