We
loaded up the car and drove to Utah to attend the Farm
Folk Fest, visit Stacey's family
and attend a reunion with my family. We had about 10 days for our entire trip.
The drive
from norther
California
to Utah is one of endurance. The desert of Nevada and the Salt Flats of western
Utah are almost mind numbing in their continous tedium and void.
You should never
drive less than 90 miles an hour, except when you approach within 10-15 miles
of towns. (I got a ticket in Elko last Thanksgiving when I forgot
to slow down). One thing we have started to do to alter the monontiny is taking
a different route to reach Northern Utah. 45 east of Wells, is a small town
of Oasis Neveda. Route 233 heads north east which turns into 30 and skirts
the western borders of Great Salt Lake before connecting to 42 and I-15 near
Tremonton. I don't think the road saves you any time but its a break in the
scenery. You definetely won't see any other cars and the road stretches on
forever
and
forever.
At this point the scenery is almost serene with the huge cumulonimbus clouds

We once again entered
beautiful
Cache Valley where we spent the next week hiking in
the mountains
surounding
Logan Canyon and of course the Family
Reunion.
