In December of 1999 we were living in Provo Utah, and during the Christmas
break in 1999 we headed for southern Utah, specifically The
Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

The first night we stayed a wonderful place, La Luz, which is Spanish for "The Light"

and there was plenty of great light that streams through the windows all along the eastern face. It had a very spacious open feeling and the red heated floors were great

Kiah especially liked the ladder.

The next day we headed out on the Hole In the Rock road. We stopped on a side
road to hike down to an arch we had read about. I can't even recall now the
name of the arch, and searching google for like 10 minutes I can't seem to locate
it. Needless to say there are MANY arches in GSENM, and when we went there was
no sign that said, "Arch this way", we just parked on the side of
the road and hiked down.
Here it is at a distance

Dad climbed up on top
Sofi was very tired and could sleep anywhere even on the rock
You could just barely see the moon behind Stacey and Kiah
Next we headed back down the Hole in the Rock Road, we decided to not go all
the way to the end of the road (55 miles) and stoppped instead at Devils Garden
(not to be confused with the place of the same name in The
Arches National Park).
Hiking down to Devils Garden were some very cool dark purple scratchy bushes
Devils Garden is very similar to Golbin
Valley, with lots of hoodoos
as well as many arches

There are also many arches

Kiah had a great time climbing around on the rocks

Even atop of a arch.
