One of our favorite
places on Earth, Zions National Park. Not that we have ever left the planet,
but we love this place. We first came here in college days. I went to school
at BYU, and occasionaly we would load up in our 4 door red Geo Metro (that thing
was like a tin can driving down the road, you hear every bump) and go driving
off into the beautiful land of southern Utah and four corners area. Over a three
day weekend we would sometimes drive a 1000 miles, visiting places like Tec
Nos Pos, Mexican Hat and Kayenta. About 3 years ago we visited Zion's the first
week in November and we discovered this was the perfect time to go. There are
no crowds, fall has just arrived and the weather is perfect for hiking.
We stayed at the Deseret Pearl Inn, this is one of the most comfortable and relaxing hotel's I have stayed in.

The rooms are decorated with old-growth fir and redwood recovered from a train trestle that was built across the great Salt Lake in 1904.

Our room looked out on the Virgin River.

The view across the river is of the cliffs just outside the park

It was a nice place to sit in the sun and read

We relaxed by the river

And went hiking.

The fall colors were amazing

One hike we took was Emerald Pools

The rocks at the upper pool are huge, can you see Kiah below?

A beautiful place

(Even my toes look pretty here)
