We went to Kauai on Spring break. On our last visit, I planned on diving Tunnels but the weather and tide didn't cooperate. This year I contacted Sacred Seas, and scheduled a dive. We were staying (at the red arrow) just up the road from Tunnels so I walked down in the morning. I dove with a dive master Aaron Mell and a Southwest airplane mechanic from Phoenix. (You can mouse over the reef to see the dive locations). The first dive we stayed on the outside of the inner reef, swimming along the reef wall and through several lava tube swim throughs. We saw a 5 foot white tipped reef shark, several sleeping sea turtles (they wedge themselves under ledges) and slipper lobster. The second dive we headed out across the channel towards the outer reef, which was pristine. There were more amazing lava tube swim throughs, we saw a small school of barracuda, a moray eel and another reef shark. The dives were amazing, Tunnels is as beautiful below as it above.
