Kauai

Of course one of the things your gonna do in Hawaii is go to the beach, our favorite is Tunnel's Beach, which is about 1/2 mile up the road from the house we stayed. If the scene looks familiar, South Pacific was shot here.

We were able to sneak in a great day there on Monday when the bridge was closed due to rain, which is why you dont see too many people on the beach and you can see the waterfall in the background. Craig and Derek are checking the current, it was pretty strong, due to high tide and swell breaking over the outer reef, but we still had a great day.

Kiah learned her lesson the hard way the day before, when she boogey boarded without a shirt on and got a rash on her stomach.

Kristen tried her hand at swimming in the water with just her goggles on.

Taking umbrellas the beach is cruicial, Megan is on the towel, Kathy and Kristen are putting on sun tan lotion.

Craig and Derek ready to go out and see the fish.

Kiah and Kristen went snorkeling alot together, which by the way is amazing at Tunnels. Way out on the far left edge of the reef as you face the ocean is a great herd of sea turtles, I saw about 7 turtles feeding on the reef while snorkling one day.

Who is that fat snorkler, avert your eyes.

Megan, Kristen and Craig coming in from snorkling, you notice the reef right next to the beach, then the blue band and then more reef much further out. This is what makes Tunnels such a great beach is that the waves break way out on the outer reef, then the big middle stretch and the reef close in makes for great snorkling. I wanted to Scuba dive this spot, but the rain and swell made the dive shop cancel.

Sofi LOVED playing in the sand, she would keep her self entertained for hours, of course we had to do bury her in the sand.

And Kiah was buried by Kristen

And then there was me.

She also liked it when we dug a hole straight down in the sand and buried here.

Usually she just took of her swimming suit and got covered in sand.

Here she is playing in the hole I dug for her.

She just couldn't be happier in the sand.

Megan didn't want me to taking any pictues, here she is throwing a rock at me.

And then there is this dopey pose, which I am sure she will love me saying.
