Yosemite Falls is North America's tallest waterfall. Really three series of water falls, that appear as two. The upper falls drop 1,430 feet, the middle cascades another 675 feet which you really cant see as they are set back from the lower falls which drops 320 feet. In all a total height of 2,425 feet. You can easily drive to the a parking lot at the base of the lower falls where most visitors stop.
Then there is the requisite poses in front of the falls, The Conleys
The Griffiths
Millie, Julia and Kiah
The Nelsons
The spring run off made for a spectacular display, we crossed the bridge to the other side of Yosemite Creek.
Isabelle and Maria pose for a picture.
Kiah, Julia and a dazed Millie offer their crazy faces
And the cuter charming innocent smiles
Sofi didn't like the mist that was spraying off the falls.
I decided to climb up the rock and get as close as possible to the bottom of the falls.
Each step closer it got wetter and wetter.
By the end it was like a torrential downpour and I was getting soaked, so I ventured no further.
We then walked back along the trail towards the Ahwahnee Hotel, there were many Stellar Jays along the way.
The girls wanted to pose at a lightening struck tree, Sofi was less than enthused and a little frightened.
Kiah is getting too big, too fast, she enjoyed being the oldest kid on the block.
The amazing Millie Chistie
And cutie Julia Conley.
That evening the guys went off for a short big road up to Mirror Lake, which wasn't much of a lake, not nearly as pretty as Mirror Lake in the Uinta mountains in Utah. We ended up biking half way around the lake, only to find out upon our return that no bikes were allowed on the trail around the lake. On our way home we stopped by a cool tree growing out of a crack in a huge boulder.
That night we had Dutch Oven potatoes, Dutch Oven cobler, Tri Tip and smores. It was yummy food if I do say so myself. Later around the campfire we told stories, like the one about Old Ephraim.
