Driving north out of Hope on Highway 1 towards Lytton you drive along the Fraiser River and what becomes the Fraiser gorge. Just past Spuzzum before Boston Bar you come to Hell's Gate, the most narrow point in the river 110 feet wide. The water depth on the day we visited was 246 feet. A tram runs down from the freeway 458 feet to the opposite side of the river.
